How to fill a cake with cream or jam

Patience is the key

Step 1: Bake and let your cake cool completely

Make sure your cake layers are fully cooled before you start filling. This prevents crumbs and helps keep your cake stable. Use a cake slicer to cut even layers.

 

Step 2: Time to fill!

Pick your favourite filling and spread it evenly over the centre of the cake layer. If you are using a filling that you are not going to spread over the entire cake, leave about a 1 centimetre gap around the edge. This stops the filling from leaking out when you stack the layers.
